Shabby Chic Topiary
Hello crafty friends! I am so happy to share with you my 2nd project as Guest Designer for Shabby is Chic Boutique for June. This is my upcycled topiary tree, hope you enjoy it!
I started with an urn that I got at a second hand store. I applied a coat of gesso and then painted light pink, and then added a thin layer of white milk paint to. I hit the textured areas of the urn with rose gold Metallic Lustre. I then decorated the urn with some of the dangle laces, pearl trim, and a flower appliqué that I sprayed pink from Shabby is Chic Boutique.
For the topiary itself, I built it out of a Styrofoam ball that I covered with pink lace. I then glued the gorgeous foam roses from SCB all over the ball randomly. I added some of the pearl stamens from the store and some leaves from my stash.
I gessoed a wooden dowel and then covered it with pink seam binding from SCB to hold the topiary ball. At the top, I added a piece of bling from my stash, organza ribbon, seam binding and rhinestone cup chain from SCB to hang down.
I had a great time making this and still have another matching urn that I am excited to upcycle.
Thank you for looking!

No Sew Shabby Chic Pillows
Hello Crafters, Kim N here today and I am so excited to be the June Guest Designer for Shabby is Chic Boutique! I hope you like my first project, no sew shabby pillows.
The first pillow was built with fabric and part of a handkerchief. It was finished with pearl trim, some lace trims and I added lots of dangles attached with a pretty piece of bling. The back has a lovely round appliqué and a heart shaped pearl bling button. It was glued together and then stuffed with batting…easy peasy!
This next no sew pillow is a ring bearer pillow for a wedding. I used white satin as the foundation and added two exquisite laces from Shabby is Chic Boutique. The focal point is a foam rose backed with tulle trim, pearl trim, and feathers. Dangle lace, seam binding, and cup chain hang down at and serve as the perfect place to tie the rings.
My final pillow is for a young girl to use as her Tooth Fairy pillow. Built with two shabby fabrics, I added a lace-covered pillow to store the tooth. Little details include gorgeous pearl trim, scalloped pink lace, a precious hankie and little butterfly. The back of this one is covered with eyelash lace and bow trim from my stash.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I created with the amazing products from my favorite store,Shabby is Chic Boutique. Thanks for stopping by!

Kim

Creative Colors Challenge #29
Hi bloggers and crafty friends! Today, I would like to share with you a card I created for the Creative Colors Challenge. I would also like to invite you to participate in the challenge as well, check it out here:
Creative Colors Challenge
For this challenge, here is the inspiration photo:
We had to use pastel pink, pastel yellow, and pastel blue plus use design patterns from the photo.
The sponsor for this challenge is DRS designs
I used their awesome digi image as the focal point of my card. Here is what I made:
I loved this image of Rosie the Riveter, so decided to give her a shabby chic make over. I love that she symbolizes female empowerment too! For the background, I layered pastel pink, then pastel blue and white striped Teresa Collins paper, then a floral print card stock, then a die cut made from white and pastel yellow card stock and finally added a white paper doily that I stamped polka dots on before adding the image that I colored ( and adhered with foam tape for dimension). For the embellishments, I added small pink crystals throughout, yellow organza and pastel blue and white gingham ribbon to Rosie's bandanna, glued pastel blue flower trim to the sides and added some small pink flower buds to the bottom with more ribbon. I layered the stamped sentiment in various card stocks and used foam tape to give it dimension.
I hope you like my card, thanks for stopping by and looking! Have a wonderful day and don't forget to play along in this challenge with us!

Key To My Heart-Altered Valentine Canvas
As Valentine's Day is approaching and is one of my favorite holidays, I am excited to share my altered canvas with you that I made for Creating With Details, I call it "Key To My Heart". It was inspired by one that the talented Mai Larsen designed at Christmastime, where she turned the canvas around making the back the front. This is my take on her concept, I hope you like it!
This is the front of the project:
This is back of the project:
You can hang this canvas on either side or even like you would an ornament so that both sides will show.
