All About Embellishments!

Hello everyone, I am here here today to share something special with you!  This month, each of the ScraPerfect Designers are creating handmade embellishments using the line of products offered by ScraPerfect,  This is going to be an exciting way for you to see the many possibilities that you can create at home to use on your projects.  I have chosen to make some embellishments with yoyo's and bottle caps.  I am featuring the Best Glue EverNo Clog Writing Caps,  Embellie Gellie, the Tiny Bottles of Embellishments, and the Wheel of Embellies,  Here are the embellishments that I created:

Let's start with the bottle caps, for these I painted the top of the bottle caps with white gesso and let dry.  Then I squeezed a small amount of the Best Glue Ever on (with the No Clog Writing Cap on  the bottle always) and used a brush to spread evenly.  Once tacky and clear, I put my bottle caps in a small dish and sprinkled some of the rose gold  glitter from the Tiny Bottles of Embellishments on top and let that cure.

Once dry, I also used the Best Glue Ever to adhere my embellished bottle cap to a doily (with large glue dots).  I repeated this process to attach a paint sample card behind that.  For added interest, I also added a tiny resin bow on top of my bottle cap with the Best Glue Ever.  I love the way it came out and think it would be a great addition to a card or scrapbook layout.

I made two other decorated bottle caps, to be used as embellishments on my future creations:

For this one, I added glitter and a resin rose to the bottle cap and attached it to a store bought ephemera card.  I  think t his one would be perfect for a junk journal embellishment!

On this bottle cap, I adhered silver micro beads from the Tiny Bottles of Embellishments with the Best Glue Ever and added a clear resin rose on top.  I attached it to a store bought bow.  I thought this one may go in my planner as a cute embellishment.

Now, on to the yoyo's.  I love using these in all types of my creations and love how they look as embellishments.  Since they are made of cotton fabric, I used medium sized glue dots made from the Best Glue Ever to adhere them to each other.  I made 3 different types of embellishments with the yoyo's:

In my opinion, this embellishment would be very pretty on a vintage style project.  It's simple to make too!  Just use the Best Glue Ever to attach the yoyo's to each other and then to the doily.  Add a dot of glue in the center hole of each yoyo and drop a loose pearl inside.

I used a store bought piece of ephemera for this one and added a yoyo, a small doily and 3 loose tiny pearls in the center.  I then added 2 tiny pearls to the sides of the ephemera and added some pretty trim to the back.. I think this would be a great belly band for a junk journal, or on a gift bag!

This one was done in the shabby chic style and was also very easy to make.  Cut a triangle out of denim, add some of the rhinestones from the Wheel of Embellies with the Best Glue Ever, and attach to a yoyo.  Then add a crocheted flower with a tiny pearl in the center and you are finished.  I love the sparkle on this one!

I hope you like the handmade embellishments that I created and will try to make some of your own.  They are great to gave on hand when you are creating and can be added to anything! Thank you for stopping by today, please check back to see what the rest of the Designers make and follow

Winter Woodland Card

I am here today excited to share a wintery project with all of you.  It is really hot here in the South, so dreaming about cooler temperatures and snow, inspired me to make this card.  This creation came together in no time with the amazing products from ScraPerfect, I hope you like it!

I started out with a craft paper card and used the Best Glue Ever to adhere some striped craft wrapping paper as part of the background.  Then I used glue dots in the center of some burlap (where I knew it would be covered) made from the Best Glue Ever.  Distress ink was swiped around all four edges of the card too.

I wanted to use a wonderful piece of chipboard from my stash for this project, but wanted to give it some extra dimension so decided to heat emboss it.  I went over the chipboard with the Perfect Crafting Pouch, tapping lightly. This works great to prevent static and embossing powder ending up where you don't want it.
After embossing, I turned the chipboard over and applied tiny, thin lines of the Best Glue Ever before securing it on the center of me card.  The Best Glue Ever, combined with the No Clog Writing Cap, was the only adhesive that would get this job done because of how skinny the birch trees are.

Snow paste was added to various parts of the trees with a small brush and left to dry.  I then got out my glitter and the Best Glue Ever and went to town.  I painted a thin coat of glue on another piece of chipboard with a brush, waited about 2 minutes for it to cure, and then covered it with glitter. I also added some snow and glitter to the moose wood piece that I added to the die cut.

I finished off the sentiment chipboard piece by adhering a piece of white ribbon across it with the
Best Glue Ever.  Then I added another smaller matching piece of chipboard that was also heat embossed and glued down the words "embrace the journey" with the Best Glue Ever.

I love the way  this card evoked memories of snowy winters spent up North in my childhood.  I had fun making this and the ScraPerfect family of products made it possible!

Creative Colors Challenge #26

Hi bloggers and crafty friends!  I am coming to you today to share my latest card for the Creative Colors Card Challenge.  We would love for you to play along with us, here is where to find it:
Creative Colors Challenge

As this challenge is the last for the year, our palette consists of holiday colors.  We had to use vintage green, deep red, white, and add glitter.  Here is the inspiration photo for our color palette:

Our sponsor for this challenge is DRS Designs and I picked a very pretty digi of a berry wreath.

Here is my card:

I layered printed card stock from The Paper Studio, 2 of the same Sissix die, white paper doilies, and then  two of the images from DRS Designs.  One was adhered directly to the card and the second was put on top of it with foam tape for dimension.  I colored some of the berries deep red and then added red stickles from my personal stash on top of them.  I used glossy accents on some of the berries and used Barbara Trombley's Ultra Fine Glitter #26 Angel Dust on top of those.  I added 2 small pieces of white lace in the corners and added white resin snowflakes on top of them. I glued white braided trim around all four corners and sprayed that with Tattered Angels Caper Green Glimmer Mist.  I made the bow with hunter green gross grain ribbon, a piece of lace that I sprayed with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Medallion, some ivory seam binding that was also sprayed, and a twig with white berries. I added 2 red buttons and three pieces of snowflake rhinestone and pearl bling to the underside of the bow.  The flowers are from the Secret Garden and were white, I painted them with Radiant Pearls Crimson Nights, added glitter when they were wet.  When dry, I sprayed them with Tattered Angels Barn Red Glimmer Mist.

I hope you enjoy my creation, please feel free to leave me a comment.  I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season!  Thank you all for the support you have shown me, and I look forward to sharing more with you from the Creative Colors Challenge in January!

Your CCC Designer,
Kim Norman
