Simply Create Too Anything Goes Challenge

Hello everyone!  I am here today with a project share for a card challenge blog that I design for.  You can subscribe to the blog so you can play along at Simply Create Too.  This month the theme was anything goes, so I had the freedom to design whatever I wanted.  Here is the card I created:

I have always loved roses and hadn't used the Vintage Rose paper pad by Stamperia in a while, so I decided to use this gorgeous collection.  I used a pink card stock for my card and then added layers from the paper,  I swiped all of the papers with the tattered Rose Distress Oxide pad by Tim Holtz and then heat set it.  A pink clay handmade rose was added as the focal point in the center of my card, which I colored a pale pink with a mica eyeshadow.  It is flanked by white irridescent sequins.  Two beaded bridal appliques were secured to the corners of my card with Fabri Tac.  I fussy cut two tags from the Vintage Rose paper pad and then punched holes in them with my Crop-A-Dile.  I tied a loose bow with some pink chiffon fabric and added it to my card.  Then, I added a charm and both tags to a silver garment pin and pinned it through my bow.  Next to that I added a silver metal rose button.  White fringe trim was added to both tags, and crystal stickles by Dove craft from White Rose Crafts were added to all of the roses on my card for a great sparkle.

I love the way it came out and could see it as a Mother's Day card or a card for a friend that loves roses as much as I do.  I hope you like what I created and will follow along or play along in this months challenge for Simply Create Too.  I will be back again in June for the next challenge.

All About Embellishments!

Hello everyone, I am here here today to share something special with you!  This month, each of the ScraPerfect Designers are creating handmade embellishments using the line of products offered by ScraPerfect,  This is going to be an exciting way for you to see the many possibilities that you can create at home to use on your projects.  I have chosen to make some embellishments with yoyo's and bottle caps.  I am featuring the Best Glue Ever, No Clog Writing Caps,  Embellie Gellie, the Tiny Bottles of Embellishments, and the Wheel of Embellies,  Here are the embellishments that I created:

Let's start with the bottle caps, for these I painted the top of the bottle caps with white gesso and let dry.  Then I squeezed a small amount of the Best Glue Ever on (with the No Clog Writing Cap on  the bottle always) and used a brush to spread evenly.  Once tacky and clear, I put my bottle caps in a small dish and sprinkled some of the rose gold  glitter from the Tiny Bottles of Embellishments on top and let that cure.

Once dry, I also used the Best Glue Ever to adhere my embellished bottle cap to a doily (with large glue dots).  I repeated this process to attach a paint sample card behind that.  For added interest, I also added a tiny resin bow on top of my bottle cap with the Best Glue Ever.  I love the way it came out and think it would be a great addition to a card or scrapbook layout.

I made two other decorated bottle caps, to be used as embellishments on my future creations:

For this one, I added glitter and a resin rose to the bottle cap and attached it to a store bought ephemera card.  I  think t his one would be perfect for a junk journal embellishment!

On this bottle cap, I adhered silver micro beads from the Tiny Bottles of Embellishments with the Best Glue Ever and added a clear resin rose on top.  I attached it to a store bought bow.  I thought this one may go in my planner as a cute embellishment.

Now, on to the yoyo's.  I love using these in all types of my creations and love how they look as embellishments.  Since they are made of cotton fabric, I used medium sized glue dots made from the Best Glue Ever to adhere them to each other.  I made 3 different types of embellishments with the yoyo's:

 In my opinion, this embellishment would be very pretty on a vintage style project.  It's simple to make too!  Just use the Best Glue Ever to attach the yoyo's to each other and then to the doily.  Add a dot of glue in the center hole of each yoyo and drop a loose pearl inside.

I used a store bought piece of ephemera for this one and added a yoyo, a small doily and 3 loose tiny pearls in the center.  I then added 2 tiny pearls to the sides of the ephemera and added some pretty trim to the back.. I think this would be a great belly band for a junk journal, or on a gift bag!

This one was done in the shabby chic style and was also very easy to make.  Cut a triangle out of denim, add some of the rhinestones from the Wheel of Embellies with the Best Glue Ever, and attach to a yoyo.  Then add a crocheted flower with a tiny pearl in the center and you are finished.  I love the sparkle on this one!

Lost and Found: Shabby Chic Layout in Purple

Hi there!  Kim L. here today for ScraPerfect to share a unique scrapbook layout that I created.  I wanted to try a layout that was a combination of artsy and shabby and I wanted to challenge myself to keep it as monochromatic as possible.  This is the page I created, I hope you like it, I had fun with this one!

To begin, I lightly sprayed the page and then used a few drips of  alcohol inks in purple tones.  I added in some metallic silver and white chalk paints.  I also used a lavender distress ink from my stash around the edges of the page.  To seal, I coated the entire page with soft matte gel and let dry. 

 I felt this background gave the arty look I was going for,

Now I got out my shabby chic elements and started building on the background.  I used the

Best Glue Ever to adhere some paper to my page and them some paper doilies on top of that.  The Best Glue Ever is awesome for paper crafting since it sticks so well and can be used in so many ways.  You only need a few dots on the back of your paper, and when you have a No Clog Writing Cap on your bottle, you won't use too much glue.

I also added a wooden window with shutters to my page.  The inside of the window is where I attached my photo using the Best Glue Ever, which I also used to secure the wooden embellishment to my page.  Some flat back pearls were added to the outside of the window, as well as the same shimmer and metallic paints that I used in my background.  Flowers serve as details on the corners around the window and glitter glass was adhered to the wooden shutters with the Best Glue Ever.

On the inside of my window, I attached some chipboard words from my stash above and below my photo and accented that with rhinestone box chain.  Small pieces of torn washi tape were added to the corners of my page and on the sides of the wooden window on the outside.  All of these elements were secured to my layout with the Best Glue Ever.

To perfectly place my small embellishments, I used some Embellie Gellie.  This is the easiest way to add tiny details in a flash!  At this point, I attached some white lace trim with roses along the bottom edge of my page with glue dots made from the Best Glue Ever.  I find that the glue dots work better with a heavier item like the lace trim.  As a finishing detail I added some crinkled seam biding, pearl trim, and a polka dot bow under one of the flowers for some added interest.  I also applied some stickles in lavender from my stash to all of the flowers for sparkle!  Once my page was completed, my hands had all kinds of paint and ink on them, so I gave them a couple of squirts of the Best Cleaner Ever and got them clean in no time.  This cleaner is truly amazing and I love that it is non toxic.

Fun Fall Altered Canvas

Hi there! Today I am sharing a Fall project with you.  Have you ever started a project and lost inspiration and set it aside?  I had one of those from last Fall that I was determined to finish.  Here is how it turned out, thanks to my ScraPerfect products:

Here is what I started with, a canvas that I made a background on with water color pencils and a water brush, that sat for a year.

I jazzed it up a bit with some metallic copper ink and Distress Crayons, then got out my cutting machine and the Best Glue Ever and got inspired.  I cut out a Fall design and used the Best Glue Ever with the No Clog Writing Cap on and glued each word or letter on with small dots of glue.

I still wasn't happy with it because it was one dimensional, so I got out some embellishments and went to town. I used the Best Glue Ever to highlight some elements of the design by adding glitter and micro beads.

I placed the brown button with the help of Embellie Gellie.  I don't fiddle with small items anymore since I started using this over a year ago, I love it!

I also used the Best Glue Ever to adhere some orange roses coated with copper glitter to the canvas.  I cut some multi colored leaves out from both plain and textured card stock and coated them with micro beads for interest too.  I put foam squares on the back of the card stock leaves to make them pop.  I recycled the  leaves from the roses and attached them to my canvas with the Best Glue Ever.

For more embellishment , I used the Best Glue Ever to glue some brown braided trim around the outside of the entire canvas.  It looked more finished to me with it. Because I like bling, I also attached some beaded trim to hang down from the bottom.

My final touch was to add a loose bow to the top corner, made from a brown nylon material.

I applied some of the Best Glue Ever, waited for it to set clear, then held my bow in place for a minute until it bonded to the canvas.

I noticed at this point, that some glitter and micro beads had clung to my canvas where I didn't want them.  In hindsight, i should have wiped the canvas with the Perfect Crafting Pouch before getting the glitter out.  Well,everything can be fixed, so I tried the technique after the fact and it still worked great!  I will be leaving mine on my craft desk from now on so I don't have to learn this lesson again the hard way.

At this point, I was finally happy with the end product, hope you like it too!

Quick and Easy Altered Vintage Spoon Featuring the Best Glue Ever

Hello everyone! I am here today to share another project made simple with the Best Glue Ever from ScraPerfect.  I recently went to a Vintage Market Fair and found some vintage cutlery to play with. Check out this gorgeous spoon I altered:

This is what it looked like before I started:

  I started by taking some Prima paper and fussy cutting some roses.  I applied some of the Best Glue Ever, using a bit more than I thought needed, since it had to bond to metal.  I then waited until the glue was clear before attaching to the spoon, about 5 minutes.

I wanted this to have a winter feel, so I brushed on some Best Glue Ever instead of a decoupage medium, then added my homemade snow mix (snow and lots of glitter).

Then, I started embellishing with flowers, Dew Drops, and tiny rhinestone bling. I was able to place these with ease using Embellie Gellie. I also used a medium sized glue dot made from the Best Glue Ever to attach pink and white seam binding to the underside of the spoon.

I also embellished the pink paper roses by adding small dots of  the Best Glue Ever on them and then sprinkling them with some snow/glitter mix. As you can see, I always use a No Clog Writing Cap on my bottle of glue...it's amazing!  It ensures precise glue placement and prevents me from using more than needed. I also used the adhesive to attach a piece of pink micro pom pom trim around the round part of the spoon.  My final touch was to rub some Metallic Lustre in Rose Gold on the stem of the spoon for more color.  As always, I used a spritz of the Best Cleaner Ever on my hands to make cleaning a breeze!

I plan to also use the Best Glue Ever to attach the tab from a soda can to the back of the stem of the spoon so I can hang it up.  I hope you like how it turned out!  This was truly a project made fast and easily with ScraPerfect!
